How does it work?
Impact-9 uses a patented solution that uses pressure to control both structural and buoyancy properties of long slender tubes. Have you been camping lately? What held up your tent in the wind? Chances are it wasn’t aluminium or fibreglass tent poles. Modern tents utilise inflatable beams formed from collapsible tubes that are inflated to form a strong flexible structural member, with minimal materials. The advantages are even more pronounced for marine applications, where the same pressure can be provided as water pressure and used to compress internal air cells to provide stable, distributed and precise buoyancy control of long slender structures, using only a single pressure connection. These elements form a building block solution for submersible grids, submersible fish pens as well as enabling future novel marine structures, like our Net9 fish pen.
